A Wind in the Door - Madeleine L'Engle
(Apparently the edition that I picked up at a Victoria used-bookstore is somewhat unusual - pictured at right. I used to love these books when I was a kid: I remember asking at garage sales if they might by chance have "anything by Medeleine L'Engle?" Here's to a lovely story by a lovely person...)
Interesting blog and you write very very well. I love Madeline L'Engel and my kids do, too. We are a family of enthusiastic and eclectic book lovers. Thank you for posting on my blog post about using glue for a crackle paint finish. I have never tried it without a base coat so your question about letting the natural wood be the base is a good one. The effect is actually a reaction between the glue and the top coat, so no base coat might work just fine. I would experiment first, though! Regards.
